Figure A
The Foyer--The tour of the mansion, which was completed in 1911, begins here (figure A). The theme followed in this area is that of a childlike Christmas, but also a look evocative of the time period of the home. This is accomplished by the traditional imagery of a Victorian toy shop, nursery and old Saint Nick himself. The attention to detail on the garland and the sheer number of ornaments used are breathtaking.

Figure B
The Drawing Room--Guests are greeted to a different theme than that of the grandiose foyer. Natural and elegant, the color palate includes mauve, amethyst and dusty pink (figure B). The mantel and the tree are trimmed with a refined, opulent flair and highlighted with satin Christmas balls and floral velvet pillow ornaments.

Figure D
The Dining Room--The Christmas theme for this room was sophisticated and golden (figure C). Fit for a stately holiday dinner, what truly makes the dining room unique are the serving pieces that double as holiday ornaments. The silver soup tureen (figure D) is stunning alone, but add gold ribbon and more than a dozen blown-glass ornaments, and the piece sparkles as a Christmas decoration.

Figure F
The Family Room--With a more casual feel, this room has been done with sports theme in mind (figure E). In Minnesota, the great outdoors is king, and rustic Christmas decorations are a perfect fit. The mantel is festooned with festive touches in the spirit of the north woods such as tiny snowshoes and miniature kerosene lamp ornaments (figure F). Bobbers and bears adorn a wreath, while the tree and mantel are topped with a flannel-inspired ribbon.

Figure I
The Conference Room--The theme here is fashion (figure G). Light blues and silvers are the hues, and luxurious fabrics, sequins and beads are the materials of choice. Light colors and rich textures give this room its sophisticated style.

The Library--This room captures the feel of a 1930s ski lodge with a very opulent stag's head image (figure H). The wreath features ski imagery such as sleds, skis and 1930s-style skiers (figure I). The plaid ribbon links the whole room together--from the garland to the chandelier and secretary. Red is a fantastic holiday color that can be warm and masculine, even with roses.
