For nearly 30 years, the schoolhouse was abandoned, which made it a scary place for neighborhood children.
Joe Zanger visits Cheryl and Daniel Brown of Chicago to see how a century-old schoolhouse has been transformed into their home (see photo at right).

The two-room schoolhouse was built in 1882 and is the talk of the neighborhood. The Browns still indulge visitors that stop by to talk about their memories there as students.
