Fashion stylist Loren Ruch shares tips for finding the best style of glasses for your face, whether you use them for function or fashion.
The first consideration when choosing eyeglasses is to determine your lifestyle. Are you active, fashion-conscious or conservative? Be sure to choose a frame that reflects your needs and preferences.
The pink glass frames on the left distract from the model's beautiful blue eyes, while the neutral brown frames on the right don't fight with her eye color.
The hard square black frames on the left overshadow the natural beauty of the model's face. The frames on the right make a statement, but their edges and color are softer and more flattering.
Pick your favorite feature (your eyes or your hair, for instance) and accentuate that with the glasses. A common mistake is to choose frames that compete or deflect attention from this feature.
Determine if your face is round or long and then choose a frame that doesn't emphasize that shape. For example don't put round frames on a round face.
Round frames on a round face make the face look wider. The longer shape of the frames on the right elongates the face.
The frames on the right are a more flattering color with dark hair and eyes and have a more pointed shape, perfect for a longer-shaped face.
