An empty popcorn tin makes a great container for pet food or all those small plastic toys that get stepped on so easily.
Frugal specialist Deana Ricks points out creative storage ideas for the home.

  • Store frequently used items such as knitting or coloring books in a pizza-box lid that you can slide right under an armchair with a skirt.

  • Store a sleeping bag on top of a mattress, underneath the fitted sheet, which will hold it in place.

  • Store out-of-season clothes under the bed in the drawer from an old dresser that you no longer in use. Place the handles outward so it is easy to pull.

  • Store extra blankets in pillow shams. You won’t need to buy another pillow for a slumber party, and the blanket stays clean.

  • Store camping gear in an old ice chest, making sure the chest is totally dried out before using it for storage.
