Steps:
- Spread out the sheet and make sure the pockets are all turned in the same way (figure A).
- Fold sheet in half, bringing short ends together.
- Tuck the pockets from one short end into the pockets of the other short end so that they fit together smoothly.
- Pick up the sheet, placing your hands in the two corners of pockets and shake until everything falls into place (figure B).
- Bring your hands to the center of the sheet (figure C), folding the sheet in on itself. Tuck the pockets into each other.
- Lay the folded sheet on the table with all the pockets together, forming a nice rectangle (figure D).
- Bring the sides in to the center and pull the elastic edge down to the center (figure E).
- Fold the sheet into thirds (figure F), then in half. Always place the folded side facing out in your linen closet for a neat look.
Flat Sheet
Steps:
- Fold three times in half.
- Fold in thirds in one direction, lengthwise.
- Fold in thirds in the other direction. This should result in a finished product that looks the same as the fitted sheet.
Pillowcase
Steps:
- Fold in threes, lengthwise.
- Fold in threes in short direction.
Other Tips
- To store a sheet set, open one side of the flat sheet, tuck the fitted sheet in and place the pillowcases on top. Lower the flap for a neat package (figure G).
- Fold towels in threes by bringing one long side of the towel to the center, then overlapping the other long side in the center. Fold in half, leaving one edge about two inches shorter than the other, then fold in half again.
- To keep the closet smelling fresh, place a sachet or fabric-softener sheet inside, or simply open a bar of soap and leave it out.
