TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham gives tips on using cola when preparing food.

  • Pour a can of cola over a ham and then roast according to directions.

  • Mix a bottle of chili sauce and a can of cola. Pour over a brisket in a slow cooker.

  • Make cola frosting by adding 1/4 cup cherry cola to a canister of German-chocolate frosting (figure A).

  • Pour a can of cola or diet cola over a bowl filled with fruit for a refreshing fruit salad (figure B).

  • Make a low-fat cake by adding 12 ounces of diet cola (figure C) in place of all liquids to one box of regular cake mix. Mix and bake as directed.

  • Mix together a can of lime cola, a can of chicken broth, and a package of fajita seasoning. Pour over chicken drummies (figure D), cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake on a baking sheet at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.
