Food journalist Shirleen Loloyan shares recipes and ideas for creating tasty meals in the dorm room that cost much less than takeout and taste great.
- Most dorm rooms will have only a small microwave and refrigerator, so these recipes work well with those appliances.
- Twelve essential items every college student should are the following: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soy sauce, lunch meat, canned goods (fruits, veggies, tuna) cheese, pasta, marinara sauce, milk and butter and bread. Spices might include salt and pepper, oregano, paprika, rosemary, garlic and cinnamon.
