Turkey Burger
Culinary expert Colleen Miner points out a few tasty alternatives to the regular beef burger.

Turkey Burger

Ingredients:

ground turkey
1 Tbs. ginger
2 Tbs. soy sauce
1/4 cup scallions
1 small can chopped water chestnuts
1 egg
1/4 cup bread crumbs
honey mustard

Preparation:

Add ginger, soy sauce, scallions, water chestnuts and egg to the meat. Stir, then add bread crumbs. Make the patties and cook on the stove just as you would a hamburger. Serve with honey mustard.

Salmon Burger

Ingredients:

1 lb. fresh chopped salmon
1/4 cup scallions
1 egg
1 Tbs. soy sauce
1-1/2 cup chopped spinach

Topping Ingredients:

1 cup mayonnaise
2 spoonfuls roasted red pepper

Preparation:

Combine salmon, scallions, egg, soy sauce and spinach. Form into patties and sauté. Top with mayonnaise and pepper mixture.

Blue Cheese Burger

Ingredients:

ground beef
blue-cheese dressing
red onions to taste

Preparation:

Cut patty in two. Add cheese and onions on one patty, then put the other patty on top and seal around the sides. Grill as usual.

Veggie Burger

Make a burger patty out of a Portabella mushroom. Sauté with balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to taste.
