Plastic cutting boards are great because they can be put in the dishwasher.
TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham gives tips for choosing, caring for wooden and plastic cutting boards.

  • Glass boards are good and safe, but they are harder to cut on.

  • Wooden cutting boards should be treated with mineral oil after they are disinfected with bleach or vinegar.

  • Use two separate boards for veggies and meats.

  • Buy two sets and you'll never be without.

  • Place a wet towel underneath your cutting board if it slides around a lot.

  • Cutting boards can be purchased with a grip on the back, and cutting mats are available as well. They can be used to pour ingredients into the recipe.
