To determine the wattage of your microwave, take one cup of tap water and put it in a two-cup container. Place it in the microwave on high for two minutes. If it is boiling, that means have a 700-watt microwave. If it is not boiling, it is 600 watts or less. Use the shorter cooking times in a microwave recipe if the wattage is 700 watts, and the longer cooking time for 600 watts or less.
