Gardening expert Rosemary McCreary points out a simple way to make your own distilled water for plants.

The chlorine and fluoride in tap water can be damaging to houseplants. To correct the problem, simply fill a bowl with tap water and let it sit overnight. The chemicals will evaporate. The longer the water can sit before using, the better. Many plants that look diseased are simply suffering from the chemicals in tap water and will perk up as soon as the water is purified.
