  • To make freshly cut flowers last longer, place a piece of charcoal into the water in which the flowers are standing. The flowers will last longer, and the water will not smell moldy.

  • To keep your gloves lasting longer, place small pieces of cotton into the tips of each finger.

  • To soften crusted paintbrushes, immerse the bristles in hot vinegar.

  • If new leather shoes pinch your feet, soak a cloth in very hot water, wring out and lay it over the area that's pinching. The leather will soon expand and stop the pain.

  • If your shoes are a little too big or just seem to slip a little at the heel, glue a piece of velvet to the inside heel of the shoe. The velvet will cling to the socks and tighten up the shoe a bit.
