A 24-inch bias cut skirt is a good choice for the slim, petite woman.

  • Try several different styles to get a sense of what works for you and what doesn't.

  • The 16-inch straight skirt is best worn by young women. It accentuates the thighs and calves. To get a longer look, match the skirt, hose and boot color. Skirts should be no shorter than 16 inches for office wear.

  • The 21-inch pleated skirt with down-stitching looks good on nearly everyone. The stitching keeps the pleats from billowing around the stomach. Make sure stitching goes to the bottom of the hips, so the pleat flare begins below the hips.

  • The 23-inch pencil skirt is another great choice for any size figure. Pen-striping and dark colors are slimming. A little stretch in the fabric will help hold in the tummy. This skirt is a classic that will never go out of style.

  • The 24-inch bias cut skirt works well on the petite woman who doesn't want to be overwhelmed by fabric. The flare at the bottom keeps the hem fluid. This style will accentuate the hips. Keep the top and bottom the same color, for a monochromatic look that creates a longer line. Flesh colored shoes and hose also lengthen the look.
