TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham shares easy recipes for preparing favorite fair foods at home.

Corn Dogs

Ingredients/Materials:

2 boxes corn-muffin mix (prepare batter according to instructions)
10 hot dogs
5 large skewers
deep fryer

Preparation:

Heat fryer oil to 350 degrees. Combine ingredients in a large pitcher and mix. Put a skewer into the end of a hot dog. Make sure the hot dog is completely dry, then dunk into the batter. Quickly submerge the hot dog in oil and slowly spin it so that it cooks evenly. Cook for about five minutes, turning once or twice, until the coating is a dark brown.

Cheese Curds

Ingredients:

1 cup baking mix
2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 lb. cheese curds

Preparation:

Mix baking mix, eggs and milk in a medium-size bowl. Coat the cheese curds with the batter, then fry one minute in 350-degree oil. Drain grease on paper towels.

Deep-Fried Candy Bar

Ingredients:

4 cups of oil
1 cup pancake mix
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
5 candy bars

Preparation:

Heat oil to 375 degrees in a medium skillet. Mix ingredients in a medium-size bowl. Dip candy bar into batter, then put in the oil. Cook until the outside is a golden brown--about two to three minutes. Drain on a paper towel and allow to cool.
