TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen provides her homemade-granola recipe.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup honey
vanilla or almond abstract to flavor
1 cup walnuts
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup blanched almonds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a saucepan, heat together maple syrup and honey (figure A) until warm. Whisk the two sweeteners together. Plain honey may make the granola too sticky. Add almond or vanilla extract for additional flavor.

Mix together walnuts, rolled oats, raisins, apricots, coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds and whatever else you desire (figure B).

Pour the syrup over this mixture and stir until well-coated. Place the granola on a jellyroll pan (figure C), then place in the oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
