  • There are a number of dressings you can easily make from items you probably already have in your refrigerator door. How about making a quick sandwich dressing by mixing together 1/2 cup chili sauce, one tablespoon prepared horseradish, one teaspoon Worcestershire, and chopped pickles? Use this spread on sandwiches or as a vegetable dip (figure A).

  • To make barbecue sauce, mix together one chopped onion, 1/2 cup chili sauce, 1/2 cup ketchup, dash of sugar, two tablespoons cider vinegar, two tablespoons of soy sauce and one teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Use this on chicken, pork, or ribs (figure B). For a little extra flavor, add a few tablespoons of either honey or mustard.

  • For dessert, make a lemon-and-poppy-seed dressing to pour over pound cake (figure C). Mix together two tablespoons sour cream, 1/2 cup buttermilk, two tablespoons lemon juice and two tablespoons honey.
