Snack twice a day, once at midmorning and again in the middle of the afternoon. Attack either the sweet or salty craving with healthy choices. Alternatives to snacks like glazed doughnuts or chocolate, choose a fiber-rich mix of whole-grain cereal combined with dried fruit and nuts. Or try an apple and peanut butter, or yogurt and fruit. These all target the sweet craving.

If you are in the mood for a salty snack, leave the chips alone. Instead grab some celery and dip it in bean dip, or dip whole-grain, baked crackers in some salsa. A handful of salty nuts is another healthy choice.
