Kids' craft expert John E. Thomas provides a recipe for creating homemade ice cream. Ingredients:
1 gallon-size plastic zippered bag
ice (enough to fill half a gallon-sized plastic zippered bag)
6 Tbs. rock salt
2 Tbs. sugar
1 cup milk or half-and-half
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 pint-sized plastic zip bag
Preparation:Fill the gallon-size plastic bag half full with ice. Add rock salt and seal (figure A). Pour sugar, milk or half-and-half, and vanilla into the pint-size bag and seal (figure B). Place the smaller bag inside the larger one, then zip and seal. Shake it for five to seven minutes, open the small bag and enjoy.
