TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham shows viewers how to prepare her favorite meatballs.

Basic Meatballs

Ingredients:

3 lbs. lean ground beef
3 beaten eggs
1 chopped onion
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
2 Tbs. cornstarch
1/2 stick butter
3 cloves minced garlic
5 slices bread, cubed
3 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce

Preparation:

Combine ground beef, eggs, onion, Parmesan and cornstarch in a large bowl. Now just roll up your sleeves and mix all ingredients well.

Melt butter in a microwave and add the garlic. Place bread cubes in a separate bowl and pour garlic butter over bread. Toss to coat.

Add bread cubes to beef mixture a handful at a time, throw in the Worcestershire and mix well. Cook the meatballs as needed for a recipe, or freeze and use later.

Tips

  • Meatballs will keep in the freezer for up to six months. Just spoon them out onto a baking sheet and place in the freezer until frozen. Then transfer meatballs to freezer bags and seal tightly.

  • Use ground turkey instead of beef for a healthier meatball.

  • Use an ice-cream scoop to make perfectly even meatballs.
