Chuck and Stacy Sohn have two small children and after two years, they’re tired of city living. They’re ready for a bigger place where Chuck, who works at home, can have an office and the kids can have their own bedroom. But first, they need to sell their beautiful 1914 brownstone, which they haven’t had the time or money to really fix up.Host Michael Johnson brings real estate expert Brandie Malay on a tour of the home. She is really impressed by the vintage details and gorgeous woodwork. However, her words turn harsh in the living room. Malay says the sparse furniture doesn’t feel homey –– it feels like a funeral parlor. In the dining room, Malay loves the built-in hutch, but the room lacks the finishing touches that a buyer is looking for. A backyard in the city is a big asset –– unfortunately, this one has too much concrete and not enough greenery.
Designer Monica Pedersen has a $2,000 design plan to turn this vintage charmer into a quick sale.
