With four children under the age of 7, Porscha and Malcolm Parker certainly have a full house. They have outgrown their 2,900-square-foot home (pictured right) and have built a bigger house that is just waiting for them to move in. With little time but plenty of motivation, the Parkers turn to the Designed to Sell team to help them get their house ready for the marketplace.Real estate expert Kathy Quaid begins her assessment on a high note, pointing out the beautiful yard and view. Once inside, she is disappointed, though. The large great room is very cold looking and has an awkward furniture layout. It's more of the same in the master suite, which along with the great room, could be a fabulous selling feature if played up properly.
Designer Monica Pedersen chimes in next, laying out a plan to get this house spruced up in short order. Her focus areas will be on the great room, the master suite and the master bath.
Step 1: Take in the scenery. Design rooms to showcase their biggest assets.
Step 2: Dig for gold! Find and feature the home's hidden selling points.
Step 3: Pump in up! Give your place personality, replacing the blahs with ahhs for the open house.
Carpenters Robert North and Chad Lopez sign on to lend a hand.
