Dean Gardens

Fantasy Open House : Episode FAN-311 -- More Projects »
Dean Gardens is the realization of a dream by the Dean family. Larry and Lynda Dean built this home/resort/amusement park for their modest family of six. However, the Deans' vision extended well beyond their immediate kin. It took hundreds of construction workers, master craftsmen, artisans and landscape professionals more than four years to transform 60 acres of raw land into this "palace for people." Even the Deans' oldest son Chris chipped in, designing all the mansion's interiors.

With Disneyesque tact and panache, Chris tackled this monumental task at the ripe old age of 21. Every room bears the signature of young Chris' flair for thematic decorating. The rotunda was inspired by Italy's Brunelleschi Cathedral. Cherub-faced gold medallions highlight the dramatic three-and-a-half story high dome and set the tone for the rest of this unique property. The formal dining room is framed by twin seawater aquariums, one containing anemones and live coral. The other aquarium, joyfully called "The Predator Tank," is home to an eel, lionfish, a shark and several other predators of the sea. Seating is for an intimate 24. The Peacock Room, the Malachite Bathe, the Silver Suite, the Moroccan Room, the Egyptian Suite, the French English, Oriental and ultra-hip Contemporary bedrooms, the Carousel Nursery and the Hawaiian Art Gallery work together in this 'home' to make Las Vegas look like child's play.
