Karen and Greg Cowell have been living with their two children in the same house for eight years. It is no longer large enough, so they need to find a new house with enough room for them and all their gear. Garage space, kitchen space ... they want more of everything, and they want it now. Coincidentally, their children are changing schools, so now is a good time.
The Cowells' realtor Debbie Kelly, who is also a close family friend, is introduced. The first house is just too small, and they wouldn't be gaining any space. The next house is plenty large, but they are unhappy with the way it is decorated. This leads them to look at brand-new houses. They happen upon a new housing development nearby. In it is a model house they really like.
They decide to sell their home and move into a rental so that they can have a brand-new house built. They start the process, but then they happen to see a development they like even better. It's also within walking distance to the lake they love. They decide that if an ideal lot is available there, they will build there instead.
The Cowells find out a house is available. Within two months, the house is finished, and they are moved in. They've customized it just how they want it and now wake up to a beautiful view. Everyone loves their bedrooms. The living room, however, must wait for the new piano.
