Our host explains that some soon-to-be-neighbors have complained that the Lands ' house has siding facing the golf course, and the developer's rules require only stone and masonry products on sides facing the golf course. Guy resists the edict ; he wants the rear of the house to be siding and stone, and he says the architectural committee approved his plans. Sharon tells Guy he has to back down on the siding versus stone issue. It will cost money to make the change, but she feels they have to do it.
Sharon tells us in a separate interview that this house is considered a bit unusual for the development and has been the subject of talk around the neighborhood. We meet Greg McKenzie of Weston Lakes, who explains their rules and tries to explain how this snafu occurred. He says it was miscommunication.
A week passes and Guy is excited; he thinks Weston Lakes has backed down, allowing him to build the rear of the house the way he designed it. But Sharon tells us later that Guy has been questioning the quality of the artificial siding that's going on the house, though she believes it's a good product. Guy is unhappy about the complaints from the neighbors, some of whom think the siding is a cheap product that cheapens the house and thus the neighborhood. He is frustrated and wonders if they really want to live there.
We hear from Sharon that the Lands have not cut enough to meet the budget. She also reveals that Guy's original drawing showed a little over 3,000 square feet in the house, but that with revisions, the house has come to more than 3,400 square feet. She blames herself partially for not re-checking his numbers, because this extra square-footage runs the cost up. Also she tells us they are not getting the landscaping donated because the company Guy had lined up dropped out. This could cost another $4,000.
