Every part of these bird cookies can be used, including the ribbon, which helps build the nests.

Kid-craft expert John Thomas explains how to make bird cookies to attract our winged friends.

Bird Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter
2 beaten eggs
3-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
mixed birdseed

Preparation:

Combine ingredients and roll out. Use a glass to cut circles in the dough. Punch a hole with a straw at the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Thread yarn through the hole to hang the cookie on a branch. The birds will use the yarn for their nests.
