Make your dog's house a fun visual extension of your home using techniques from decorative artist Shari Tipich.

  • Use the same shingles and paint color for Fido’s house as you do for your home.

  • Designs can be added with stamps, stencils, appliqués, molding and decorative trims.

  • Imitate the look of bricks around the base of the doghouse by photocopying a linoleum sample in a brick pattern onto pieces of clear vinyl (available at a copy store). Once that's done, glue the vinyl to the side of the house (figure A).

  • Use a garden border to create the look of a picket fence (figure B). Paint in flowers and plants to look like they are growing behind the border.
