Flexible Bridal Hairdos
Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-723 -- More Projects »
Stylist Amby Longhofer shares tips on flexible bridal hairdos that can be done by the bride herself.
- Match the hairdo to your hair type. For example, long heavy hair shouldn't be pinned up but twisted and gathered low on the head.
- Another secret is to use a reversible veil that can be removed after the ceremony.
The Juliet-inspired look is great for long, heavy hair. Just gather hair on each side and twist, then bring around to the back and secure loosely with a rubber band. Pull the end of the ponytail under and through the hair just above the rubber band to hide the band. Secure the Juliet cap with pins (figure A)and attach the veil and comb at the back edge of the cap (figure B). After the ceremony, remove the veil. The cap and ponytail still have an elegant, finished look.
For finer hair, pull the hair back and twist up into a French braid. Pin in place and adorn with a pearl-decorated comb. Place the veil at the top of the braid. Add a small tiara (figure C). Remove the veil after the ceremony.
For shorter hair, take small sections of the hair (several on each side), twist and pin back (figure D). Attach a tiara, pulling back hair up and over the back edge of the tiara to hide it. Many brides are choosing this look with no veil.
