Beauty Parlor Night
Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-524 -- More Projects »
Jennifer Jaqua shows suggests holding a beauty parlor night. This is a great way to get together with friends and have a bonding and rejuvenating experience.
- Start by getting the husband and children out of the house or in the playroom. Set things up for them by ordering pizzas and renting a few movies. Make sure that the most comfortable room in the house is reserved for girl talk.
Create some invitations by purchasing cheap sandals (the 99-cent variety) and attaching decorative paper (figure A). Write the time and date on the paper, and inform the guests to bring their favorite robe and beauty products to share.Set the ambiance in the room with large pillows on the floor, pretty scarves on the table, candles and good music. Just before your guests arrive, throw some towels in the dryer to get them fluffy and hot. Present them to the guests when they arrive.
Make "spa water" by slicing lemons, limes and cucumbers in water (figure B). Let the water sit for a few minutes before guests arrive. This provides guests with a crisp, refreshing drink.Mix together dried flowers and herbs--anything you might find pleasant and aromatic--in a large aluminum bowl (figure C). Once everyone has settled in, add very hot water to the flowers. Each guest should lean over the bowl (not too close to the water), place a towel over the head to capture the steam. This will open the pores and get everyone ready for beauty treatment. It's great to share beauty treatments. Create manicure, pedicure and facial stations and allow the guests to switch off from each station.Provide healthy snacks such as exotic fruit salad, gazpacho or pumpkin muffins. If you prefer, arrange for each guest to bring a snack to share.
