Michael Sparks, an optician and designer, provides pointers on how to pick out eyeglasses to suit one's face. He demonstrates on three facial types, emphasizing and discussing face shape, hair and skin color and the bridge of the nose.
Figure A--Gold frames can sometimes age you 10 to 15 years. By going to the tortoise- shell frame on the right, the smaller frame provides a more classic look. The high-arching eyebrows are emphasized and the look is clean.
Figure B--The eyeglasses on the left are way too big for her. They fall down too far below the eyes and magnify them. On the right, however, the eyes are framed nicely and the eyebrows and cheekbones are further revealed. These eyeglasses also have a saddle bridge, which fits well on the bridge of the nose.
Figure C--A progressive lens doesn't feature the line that a regular bifocal lens does. In this model's case, the progressive lenses work far better on the right. The eyeglasses are an eggplant color, which works well with her natural coloring. Again, the bolder frame highlights her eyes and emphasizes her natural beauty.
