Skinny Skin Skin

Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-309 -- More Projects »
Dermatologist Dr. Debra Luftman shares some solutions for common skin problems.
  • Use thoroughly cleaned hands or fingertips (or use a clean cotton ball) when applying moisturizers and cleansers to the face. Never apply with a complexion sponge because they can be havens for bacteria, often bringing dirt and oil to the face.

  • As a remedy for puffy eyes, dip a facecloth into water, place in a plastic sandwich bag and put in freezer for one to two hours. Remove from freezer and apply to eyes for immediate reduction.

  • Protect skin from the sun's UVA and UVB rays by applying a sun block that contains titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.

  • To help sun-damaged skin, exfoliate with either a product that contains alphahydroxy acid or use a natural alternative, such as citrus fruit or plain yogurt.

  • If blushed skin poses a continuous problem, avoiding items such as spicy dishes, alcohol (especially red wine), caffeine and chocolate.
