Twist until you can't twist anymore, fold back over, and you have a French twist.
Hairstylist Corine Asch provides pointers on how to eliminate bad-hair days.

Naturally curly hair

  • On a rainy, humid day, curly hair can get frizzy, so go with it. To capture a "ringlet" look, place your hair in a curling iron, turn and release slightly, then hold for a few seconds. The goal is to have the ends of the hair inside the iron to prevent "fish hooks."

  • Use a leave-in conditioner and application of a sealant, or "anti-frizz" spray to keep hair manageable.

Straight hair

At the end of the day, straight hair can look a little oily. To avoid washing your hair again, just pin it back, leaving some strands hanging down in the front. Wash the strands over a sink and blow them dry. With the clean hair in the front, a simple ponytail, a French twist, or any accessories can enhance the hair in back.
