Lemon juice and water can be used to whiten nails discolored by dark nail polish.
Whitening Solution

To keep nails looking fresh and white, mix together lukewarm water and some lemon slices, plus the juice of half a lemon. Soak nails in the mixture for five to 10 minutes one or two times a week until they are the desired color.

You can also use whitening toothpaste to whiten nails. Just scrub nails with a soft toothbrush, which also adds a nice sheen. Nails should be whiter after a few treatments.

Exfoliation

Heat milk to lukewarm and soak hands in it for five to 10 minutes. The lactic acid is a natural exfoliator, and the calcium in the milk will strengthen the nails.

Moisturizing Treatment

Mix equal parts kosher or sea salt and mineral oil, add a few drops of vitamin E oil, then rub into hands. The vitamin E has healing properties, while the salt is a good exfoliator.

Epsom Salt Soak

Dissolve Epsom salts in boiling water and let it cool to a comfortable temperature. Soak hands for a few minutes. This helps with hands that are achy from typing or gardening. It is calming, soothing and moisturizing.

A mixture of sugar and petroleum jelly rubbed on the hands is an effective and inexpensive exfoliation treatment.
Exfoliating Treatment

Combine one tablespoon of petroleum jelly and two teaspoons of sugar. Put a little of the jelly and sugar in the palm of the hand. Rub hands together to spread the mixture, working into the cuticles and any calluses.
