Age-Appropriate Haircuts
Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-906 -- More Projects »
Hairstylist Guy Romeo explains how to find a commonsense style that suits your age and individuality. The 30s
The basic length and color for this model was going in the right direction (figure A), but the hair needed a color correction to a bit darker color with less lightness around the face and lighter layers (figure B). A change in the part and lift from drying the hair over a big-barreled brush created a fun, age-appropriate look. The 40s
The length of this bob was good (figure C), but with a chunkier cut with layers and more lightness around the face and hairline (figure D), the look is fresh but not too trendy. Adding amplifying products while the hair is still damp and bending the hair over a large barrel brush while drying added lift and volume. The 50s
This haircut makes the model's face look too wide (figure E). A shorter, layered cut with more length in the front than the back, and a brighter color added some life and emphasized her eyes (figure F). Spraying gel and lifting the hair at the roots while drying helped achieve the look.
