The idea of covering the top of the toilet seat with a garden of flowers cut from wallpaper seemed a bit off-the-wall at first glance even though it did look very pretty. After we witnessed some of the hot-selling items at Beckman's Show, however, this decorative throne seemed to make a lot of sense in the world of unusual craft commodities. Who knows...maybe Linda Watson, our producer and originator of the unusual bathroom addition, might have a whole new career out there.

After cutting many many flowers from the wallpaper (using sheets from wallpaper sample books), Linda adhered them to the top of the toilet seat using spray glue adhesive. She completely covered the top lid by overlapping the flowers and continuing them around to the back.

Using spray adhesive, Linda covered the seat with photographic leaf images she had scanned from a book. If you don't own a scanner, look for one at your local copy center or make a photocopy of your favorite image. A copy will produce similar results.

The seat and cover were then sealed with several coats of Folk Art Clearcote extra thick, glossy glaze. Linda suggested that a couple of coats of polyurethane in either matte or hi-gloss finish could be substituted in place of the glaze.
