Figure C
Designer Kelly Roland Warrens offeres ideas on how to refurbish flea-market finds to create decorative message centers (see photo at right).

  • Turn old trays, fiberboard or nearly anything else into a chalkboard message center by applying blackboard slating with a brush or spraying chalkboard with an erasable finish (figure A). Use your imagination. Add an attractive frame and hang it with a ribbon for a unique message center.

  • Another option is to paint an old metal tray with slating and paint on decorative touches with acrylic paints (figure B).

  • Frame a piece of corkboard (figure C) with a fun, funky frame and hang it with decorative rope or ribbon for a message center you'll be proud to display.
