Here are a few of Suzanne McNeill's fabulous - and remarkably easy - storage tips:
- Use a tackle or tool box to organize craft supplies. The many compartments in each tier keep supplies organized, visible and convenient to transport.
- Keep paint brushes in an empty (clean) tall potato chip canister. To keep the bristles from warping, remember to store them so that they stand on their blunt end. To straighten warped bristles, place them under extremely hot water and reshape them with your fingertips. Then place a toothpick alongside the bristles, wrap them together with thread, and let the brush dry.
- Keep different types of glue stored together in an empty cylindrical snack container with a lid.
- Organize craft paints in an empty cheese container made from cardboard. Storing the paints upside down will keep them fresher longer, and makes it easier not only to see the color of the paint, but to identify its specific model number at a glance if you write the number on the base of the bottle. The box Suzanne displayed held 12 bottles of paint, which is approximately the number of colors used in the average craft project.
- Decorate the outside of storage containers with adhesive-backed decorative paper.
