Materials:
photos
printable fabric or muslin
variety of fabrics
rotary cutter
cutting board
iron
batting
pins
Steps:
1. Transfer photos to fabric using printable fabric or have a copy center put them on 100 percent cotton fabric such as muslin.
2. Cut chosen fabrics into 1-1/2-inch strips. Sew four strips around each picture with right sides together. Open edges and press them flat. Continue sewing strips around photo squares until desired number of rows is reached. Press seams flat.
3. Arrange the images until satisfied and sew them together using more strips as desired.
4. Cut backing fabric and batting to the size of the finished top. Place the backing fabric wrong side up with the batting on top. Place the top over the batting and pin the layers together. Stitch in the ditch around each photo (along the outer stitching line of the inner border strip) to secure the layers together.
5. Trim about 1/2 inch of the batting away from the outer edges. Fold the backing and top fabrics in 1/2 inch and sew them together to finish it.
