Firehouse Gets Functional

See how a pro organizer revamps a disheveled volunteer firehouse.

Mission: Organization : Episode MSO-1111 -- More Projects »
Dedicated firefighters Corey Wasson, Whitney Chestnut and Rob Carovillano take a lot of pride in their work and their volunteer fire company. They would like to take a lot of pride in the fire station's crew room, but with 40 firefighters constantly coming and going, the place has gotten out of hand.

The crew room is where firefighters hang out, so it's definitely the social center for the firehouse. There are four sections to the big room –– a kitchen, office, lounge and a game area. All four sections are overcrowded and disorganized. The firefighters would like to see the room cleaned up and decluttered to make the volunteers feel more at home, help with morale and keep all the firefighters involved.

Professional organizer Liz Witts has the perfect take-charge attitude to whip this firehouse into shape.

Before: Clutter Central
The lounge area is where the firefighters kick back and relax. Piles of magazines, videos and newspapers tend to get left lying around once discarded. The gaming area in back of the lounge is equipped with a pool table and a dartboard, neither of which has been used in years. The pool table is covered with papers, trophies and boxes.
