This 14 x 15-foot living room has been taken over by grandchildren's toys. Expert organizer Karen Ussery is brought in to help the homeowner reclaim it.
Stella Buelna's living room has been taken over by her grandchildren's toys, games and videos, leaving no room for her books, albums and other personal belongings.

She is fed up with the clutter, but doesn't know what to do about it, so she calls in a professional. Expert organizer Karen Ussery is determined to give this room back to Buelna but still keep it grandchild-friendly.

Ussery plans to begin her project by sorting through everything, one by one, determining what can stay and what should be tossed or donated. That includes furniture. She also wants to create a whole new feel for the room by adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls. See the results of her efforts below.

Before: Each surface of the living room was covered with everything from toys and stuff animals to videos, books and albums. There's even a mini trampoline in there!

After: Now the room exudes warmth, thanks to the new sleeper sofas, coffee table and reading lamp and fresh wall paint. The stuffed animals are now stored neatly in a basket.
And what about all that other stuff? Ussery created a streamlined entertainment center, making it the new focal point of the room.

Entertainment Area

Before: Opposite the couch, the contents of the TV cabinet spilled out onto the floor in all directions.

After: Now a spacious white entertainment center stores photo albums disguised as hardcover books, video games, various media and board games.
Mission accomplished! Everything has its place, and the living room has become the most inviting area of the house.
