Organizing expert Louise Kurzeka provides tips on attractively organizing items around the home.

  • Display collectibles on shelves (figure A) or on top of cabinets (figure B), rather than on tables.

  • Mount an old printers' storage box on the wall and display small perfume bottles in it (figure C).

  • Instead of storing a collection of baskets away, hang them from the ceiling (figure D).

  • Another option is for baskets is to show them off by placing them on or around the kitchen cabinets.

  • Hang oven mitts and aprons on a coat rack that you've placed in the kitchen, rather than using up valuable drawer space (figure E).

  • Make miniature pillowcases with various scraps of fabric. Attach magnetic strips to the back of the fabric, then place on the refrigerator (figure F). These can be used to hold bills or letters, or you can put a family member's name on them instead of keeping the mail on the table or by the front door.
