Organizing Accessories

TIPical Mary Ellen : Episode TIP-335 -- More Projects »
Louise Kurzeka shares easy ways for organizing accessories.
  • Use an old sweater as a jewelry holder in your closet. Attach earrings and pins directly to the sweater and place necklaces around the hanger. Attach a baby diaper pin to one of the sweater's cuffs, place bracelets onto the sleeve, and attach the pin to the shoulder area.

  • Attach cup hooks to the bottom of a wooden coat hanger to create your own accessory center for hanging necklaces, belts and even small purses.

  • Use shower hooks for hanging large purses. Intermittently place the hooks on a section of link chain that has been placed at the neck of a sturdy hanger.

  • Put large bag-type purses into bins, making sure to separate by color or season for easy retrieval. Stuff them with an old T-shirt so that they will keep their shape.

  • Use a mug rack in the dressing area of your bedroom for hanging heavy necklaces, scarves or extra purses.

  • For easy storage of hair accessories, try clipping barrettes on a thin belt or putting scrunchies on a paper-towel holder.
