Pulling a Room Together

Room by Room : Episode RXR-1104 -- More Projects »
Follow these guidelines when putting a room together:
  • Vacuum thoroughly--it's much easier to get into all the corners and along the edges now, while the furniture is out of the way. Be sure to do both sides of the mattress and box springs to keep as much lint and fiber out of the new room as possible .
  • Sort through furniture contents--throw out or donate unnecessary things. Clean the pieces and apply a coat of furniture polish before putting them in place.
  • When bringing in newly finished furniture, check the bottoms of all the legs and feet where the stain or paint can puddle and stay tacky for a long time.
  • Buy a couple sizes of furniture coasters to help eliminate any crushing of the carpet from the weight of the furniture.
  • Iron dust ruffles and comforter covers to get rid of wrinkles from packaging.
  • Wash new bedding to remove starch and make them softer.
  • Purchase inexpensive pillows to use in pillow shams, or buy new bed pillows for use and put the old ones in the shams.
