The Results

To give the rooms a fresh feel, bright yellow paint is chosen to reflect Ellyn's love for vibrant color. A new, adjustable shelving system (see photo at right) is introduced into both rooms with a matching collection of baskets for storage.

In the new production studio, a work area is created for Ellyn's knitting machine, complete with shelves to hold her knitting machine and some of her yarn and decorative baskets hung above to store more yarn. On the opposite wall, decorative baskets store Ellyn's patterns, and the cutting table is relocated beneath to create a new sewing area.

These low shelves now contain magazines and notions stored in attractive black and clear containers. They are located near the cutting table for convenience.

A wall that used to house a computer, TV, stereo and shelves is now organized into storage for fabric. The shelves were raised to make room for the cutting table.

Another wall of shelves hold baskets filled with yarn. Adjustable storage drawers underneath create a surface for a knitting and sewing machine.
In the new home office, the basket system is duplicated to store fabric by color, style and yardage. A filing system is set up, and on one wall creates an entertainment area so that Hilly can sit and watch television while Ellyn works at her desk.

The second room is now used as a home office. A handsome new circular desk takes center stage.

Some spunky new fabric for cushions and curtains turn this window seat (formerly hidden under mounds of clutter) into a focal point for the office.
