Figure A

  • If you have a limited amount of cupboards in your home, hang everyday mugs from hooks below the cabinets (figure A). This will look great plus free up much-needed space in the cupboards.

Figure B
  • The inside surface of a closet or pantry door is a great place to keep a message board (figure B). Simply cut a piece of foam board to size and mount to the door. Use self-adhesive note pads for messages.

    Figure C
  • A tier of wire mesh baskets like those used in the kitchen also works great as a closet organizer. Store hats, gloves and scarves in each tier so that they are easy to grab whenever needed (figure C). Just hang the baskets in or near the closet.

  • When choosing small appliances for a kitchen, consider models that hang underneath the kitchen cabinets.

  • A large galvanized bucket set next to a favorite chair or by the couch is a great place to put magazines and catalogs. Otherwise reading materials tend to take up space on the kitchen counter or coffee table.

  • An attractive wicker hamper can do double-duty as an end table and as a storage space for extra blankets. This saves a lot of space in the family room or den.
