Organizing the Garage and Kitchen

Automotive products, lawn-care equipment and other typical garage stuff can be put off of the ground to keep it orderly. Try stackable recycling bins, peg boards (for hoses, duffle bags, coats, extension cords, hats, etc.), metal shelves to store oils and tools and a mounted rack for brooms and mops. Keep skis, ladders or bicycles out of the way when not in use by positioning them on large L-brackets.

Toolbox

Matt Fox shares a few ideas for the kitchen with storage problems. Try creating a shelf and then install a hanging basket underneath to increase useable space. Putting in a garbage can that slides out can solve the issue of little floor space. Wire baskets can be attached inside cupboard doors to keep dish soap and cleansers handy.

Personal Tidbit

Shari Hiller suggests using file boxes for kids to save cherished school projects, artwork, report cards and pictures. Use as many boxes as necessary and consolidate some every so often.
