Decluttering for Two

Mission: Organization : Episode MSO-113 -- More Projects »
Mother Loretta Jones and daughter Jenni have a common problem in their rooms: clutter. From crammed closets to bulky drawers, their rooms just aren't working for them.

Lack of closet space is the main problem, so designers Melanie Mattes and Michelle Ashley are called in to try to transform their clutter and chaos to clean and classy.

Adding to the mix is that Jenni is set to leave soon for college, so Loretta wants to turn Jenni's room to double a guest room.

Loretta's Room

Loretta's room is full of too much of everything--too many clothes and too many furniture large pieces in too small of a space.

Her husband's clothes have been relegated to the basement because there is no room for them. Even finding a matching pair of shoes in the morning is a chore for her.

Loretta's room is so jam packed with furniture, there's barely space to walk between them.

Her closets were so full of stuff she had to remove the doors and hang curtains to conceal them.

Loretta's dresser is so close to the bed that she can't even open the drawers all the way.

She's even begun to use a chair for storage instead of sitting. Notice that the chair renders the doorway behind it useless.
