Host Mary Ellen Pinkham shares ideas for using empty egg cartons around the home.

Use empty egg cartons as packing material. They act as shock absorbers when lining a box containing fragile items (figure A).
Use an egg carton when filling tacos. Rest the hard taco shells in the grooves to keep them standing upright for easier filling (figure B). You can fill several at a time with this trick.
Make an egg carton into a pill reminder. Label the compartments with the days of the week, and place each day's medications in the appropriate compartment (figure C).
Let a child use an egg carton as a paint palette. Fill the compartments with different colors of paint and let the little artist go at it. For easy cleanup, simply close the lid and throw away.
If board-game boxes are falling apart, store the game pieces in an empty egg carton. Label the front of the carton with the name of the game.
Store small items such a buttons, jewelry and other items in an egg carton.
