A cost-effective way to use reclaimed stone is to showcase it as a center design in a room, rather than covering an entire floor with it.
Old World details include flooring. Kitty Bartholomew visits with Roz Walker of Paris Ceramics to learn about reclaimed stone floors. Flooring from properties in Europe scheduled for demolition, like chateaus and farmhouses, are brought back to the United States for cleaning, sanitizing, sizing and cataloging. Although very expensive, the 100- to 200-year-old stones add an instant touch of history to any room . Walker recommends a less expensive way to get the look and feel of history on a floor: use the stones for an accent design in the center of a floor, or as a border , finishing the larger areas with a less expensive stone.
