Figure A--Use heavy-duty hooks to hold light or incidental items. These hooks are inexpensive and come in very handy. There may even be some hanging around in your garage. They can be indispensable in a bathroom.

Figure B--Attempting to buy these doorknobs in a supply store could prove to be an expensive proposition, but if you look around the house, an old doorknob can usually be found in the basement or in the back of a junk drawer. Put them to use as jewelry holders to keep chains from getting tangled up or wrap an appliance such as a blow dryer around one.

Figure C--Short a coffee table? Use those cinderblocks that are sitting on the basement floor. In this example, two cinderblocks support a piece of stone and two bricks. On the smaller bricks, use putty or foam to keep the surface from scratching the tabletop, which can be a piece of glass or mirror. Place a collectible or flowers under the glass between the bricks for a final touch.
