Figure A

  • Save paper towels by placing a layer of newspaper underneath a doubled-up paper towel when blotting greasy foods (figure A).

  • Use a dehumidifier water to water your plants.

Figure B
  • Instead of buying sausage patties in the box, buy the bulk tube and use a bread knife to cut into wedges that are the same size as the prepackaged (figure B).

  • Can't get the bottom of a long bottle clean? Use a handful of small pebbles and soap and water. Swish the bottle to clean.

    Figure C
  • Don't replace the hook off a shower curtain ring. Just buy a picture hanger, snip off the hook, and apply epoxy onto the back. Once the epoxy is dry, attach the new ring to the curtain (figure C).

  • Make your own air freshener by adding a few drops of a sample perfume or liquid potpourri to a spray bottle filled with water.

  • Freshen up stale pretzels by warming them in the oven for about 20 minutes.

    Figure D
  • Grow your own pineapple. Just cut off the top and place in some water. When roots start to grow, transplant into potting soil (figure D).
